Erwin ten Brincke

Introduction

My name is Erwin ten Brincke, I am a structural designer with an integral view and passion for glass. My creativity comes out at the design table sketching as a member of the team. I design safe, sustainable, manufacturable structures.

What I do at ABT

I transfer my knowledge to young ABT employees, as well as to students. Graduates say I am a source of inspiration to them for finding a thesis topic. Everyone appreciates my enthusiasm and my detailed feedback from the perspective of a professional engineer.

Leading Dutch projects I worked on include the sculptural and earthquake-safe Forum Groningen (2019) and the Crystal Houses project in Amsterdam (2016) with cast glass bricks.

Internationally, I work on cutting edge buildings and artworks featuring glass. Some of them are the double-curved cabins of the Ferris wheel in Dubai, Bulgari’s flagship store in Kuala Lumpur with a façade of ‘new marble with blood vessels of glass’ and the brightly-coloured Instagram Pavilion in Cannes.

My dream for the future

Innovation and giving meaning to beauty are my motivation. Today, innovation means above all using our materials sustainably for the next 50 years, and beauty means making them look attractive.
