Introduction

My fascination is the accurate calculation of complex physical behaviour through advanced FEA and CFD software. My personal motivation is to use these techniques responsibly and make designs more sustainable, safe, comfortable and/or efficient. Before joining ABT in 2016 as an FEA specialist, I worked for three years at Iv-Consult as a steel structural engineer and FEA specialist. Before this, I took the course in structural design at Technical University Eindhoven. I graduated in 2008 on research on explosion loads on high-rise structures and in 2013 I received my PhD on research on post-tensioned stability walls made of sand-lime brick adhesive.

What do I do at ABT?

At ABT, I am a senior specialist in FEA and head of our knowledge group Advanced Simulation. As such I seek connection between various projects of ABT and deployment of advanced techniques such as FEA and CFD. I am a mentor for colleagues in their projects and personal development. I coordinate innovation at interfaces between the disciplines of structures, geotechnical engineering and building physics with a view to projects of the future.

My dream for the future

We face enormous challenges: climate change, declining biodiversity, increasing migration, and so on. This world is changing so rapidly that regulations cannot keep up. I am convinced that a combination of experimentation, simulation and monitoring will accelerate new technologies and products. I am happy to contribute my knowledge in the field of simulations.”
