Profile

We are an independent engineering firm, creating the best technical designs for buildings and infrastructure. When realizing designs for new construction and redevelopment projects, we will find solutions to societal challenges with an integrated view. We are known for achieving sustainable built environments in line with the Paris-proof 2050 ambitions.

Innovation day

Challenges abound… but how do you turn an idea or dream into a built reality? Our engineers help build the ambitions of our clients. That requires vision and design power. Since 1953, our passion for technology has led to many innovative and thought-out solutions. For architects, developers, municipalities and contractors.

It is precisely in projects with very high ambitions for impact, sustainability and quality that we make the difference. We have everything in place. The technical skills, innovative drive and process knowledge. As we are part of the Oosterhoff network, we have direct access to complementary expertise. This enables us to realise complex, unique assignments successfully and be ambitious together with clients and partners.

Agile organization

The basis of our organizational model is integral work on technically challenging projects. We are organized from our technical expertise. New insights and innovations can be applied immediately in projects. We have a flat structure and short lines of communication that allow us to move quickly if projects or market developments require so.

For specific areas of expertise such as real estate consulting, construction management or installation engineering, we can consult specialists in our sister companies within Oosterhoff. This wide range of consulting services readily available has proven to lead to quick smart integrated solutions.

Executive Team

The executive team, consisting of Sander Dorleijn and Ruben Creutzburg, is actively involved in the projects. Together with the steering groups, it implements policy and directs ABT.

Sander Dorleijn knows ABT’s organization inside out. Since 2007, the core of his work has been the successful integral collaboration. This is collaboration is apparent within ABT and in projects such as the new Amsterdam District Court and Schiphol Terminal. On the executive team, Sander is responsible for business development and connection with market and future developments.

Ruben Creutzburg has been working at ABT as the director operations since October 2023. Prior to this, he gained nearly 10 years of executive experience in an international project organization for integrated (radar) systems. He is a true team player and believes in the power of collaboration to grow and continuously develop the organization as a whole. On the executive team, Ruben is responsible for the internal (project) organization and operations, including finances.

Internal connection

ABT’s focus is on continuously applying, strengthening and deepening our knowledge. Each ABT person is a member of a knowledge group. These groups pool, develop and secure relevant knowledge which is shared internally and externally and used in our projects. ABT engineers love a challenge. They are interested to learn. They focus on possibilities and are keen to use their specialty to make a contribution. Internal connection and cooperation is the basis of our success. Transparency, openness and safety are paramount in our culture. In our work environment every employee can be who they want to be and have the space to create innovations.

Safety and sustainability aspirations

At ABT, we think safety is important. Safe working includes handling dangerous situations on site, cyber security, social safety as well as design safety. In addition to promoting employee safety awareness through campaigns and training, policies include a zero tolerance statement and a whistle-blower policy. In 2022, ABT entered Step 3 of the Safety Culture Ladder.

Paris-proof Commitment

Sustainability and carbon reduction have been part of our projects and operations for years. We are on step 5 of the CO2 performance ladder. By signing the DGBC’s Paris-proof Commitment, ABT committed to reducing energy use in the built environment by two-thirds, and reducing the associated carbon emissions. This commitment aligns with our goal of being climate neutral for our own operations by 2028. We have the ambition to provide sustainable living and working environments together with our partners and clients.
