Industry: building a climate-positive future
Buildings in which the primary process takes centre stage. That is the core of ABT’s Industrial market. Examples include logistics warehouses, cold stores, data centres, multi-storey car parks and laboratories. Clients are looking for partners who excel technically and who also contribute strategic input on planning permission, sustainability and future-proofing. ABT brings this knowledge and experience to the design table, thereby facilitating rapid and direct decision-making. The result: industrial property that takes the future into account and is ready for it.
From industrialisation to sustainable industry
Industrial buildings are under pressure. For example, the problem of grid congestion has been an issue for some time, and there is a negative perception due to the risk of the landscape becoming overbuilt. In addition, a new problem is emerging: future projects may no longer be granted a water connection. All of this calls for innovation. ABT has made a conscious choice to adopt climate-positive construction by thinking differently. Examples include the use of seawater as process water for data centres and energy-efficient recirculation roofs for more efficient cooling. We take an integrated approach to sustainability: material conservation, energy efficiency, water-saving solutions and a focus on user comfort. Furthermore, we are convinced that industrial buildings can be of higher architectural quality whilst also blending more seamlessly into the landscape.

Our approach
The development of industrial property requires in-depth technical expertise, speed and a pragmatic approach. We combine comprehensive consultancy with specialist knowledge to deliver solutions that work – on time and within budget. How we do this:
- We focus on parametric design: for projects such as multi-storey car parks and logistics warehouses, we create standardised designs that are more efficient and sustainable. We use our engineering expertise for innovation, not for repetitive work. This delivers both speed and quality.
- We combine integrated strength with specialist expertise: we complement our integrated knowledge with the expertise within our holding company, Oosterhoff. This enables us to achieve more than might initially be thought possible. Our concrete specialists design thin, sustainable floors that are in demand worldwide. For multi-storey car parks, we create fire safety concepts that go beyond standard regulations. For national data centre projects commissioned by international clients, we act as the local link between Dutch laws and regulations and international engineering standards.
- We bring speed and decisiveness to the table: industrial projects often involve tight deadlines. We provide the right input for swift, well-considered decisions. Our broad knowledge and wide scope enable us to respond flexibly to requirements. We pioneer where necessary and deliver what we promise: pragmatically and reliably.
With this approach, we deliver industrial projects that not only meet today’s requirements but are also ready for tomorrow’s challenges.
