“I enjoy being able to add value to both the client and the project from a coordinating role.”

Introduction

My name is Corné van Laar. I focus on technically translating and visualising design concepts into 3D models, with the goal of producing high‑quality drawings for the realisation of premium buildings. Collaboration plays an essential role in this process: by sharing knowledge and expertise within project teams and learning from one another, we achieve better end results.

I joined ABT in 2022, directly after completing my Architecture (Bouwkunde) degree at the HAN University of Applied Sciences. During a large part of my studies, I already worked as an architectural modeller at a small-scale architectural firm, where I gained experience in both design and technical elaboration. But it is especially at ABT that my passion for the profession has deepened and evolved.

What I do at ABT

As an architectural modeller, I work on the technical development of both new-build and renovation projects in the utility and residential sectors. I have experience in various project phases and, thanks to my broad interests and open mindset, can be deployed widely. Finding well‑considered architectural solutions requires alignment with many different parties — other disciplines, product suppliers and various authorities. It is precisely this “look into each other’s world,” and translating that shared knowledge into a coherent whole, that makes the work so appealing to me. From this position, we often fulfil a coordinating role within projects, and I find it rewarding when we can add value to both the client and the project through this role.

My dream for the future

I hope that within our projects we continue to actively seek collaboration, truly listen to one another and, above all, keep learning together. Everyone brings valuable knowledge and expertise from their own discipline — something I personally find inspiring to witness. At the same time, buildings are the result of multiple disciplines that are inseparably connected. By collaborating proactively, expertise is strengthened, and this leads to better buildings.
