Introduction

I enjoy walking with my wife and children past my projects, where I can passionately talk about all the beautiful aspects of the project. I hope the main message is: an optimal design, with a balance between environment, material use, and future-proofing. At my previous employer, I was often involved at the front end of a project. Just as nice, but I prefer to get my hands dirty. I enjoy having short lines of communication with a contractor and being able to switch quickly. These are the projects that ABT excels at and where we can optimally apply our knowledge in practice.

What I do at ABT

At ABT, I mainly focus on water safety, with occasional forays into geotechnics. The focus of water safety is quite broad, from macro stability through coatings to piping. In this, I usually serve as a technical expert or design leader on small projects. Besides a good Rochefort 10, you can call me at night for a beautiful structure in a dike where I can enjoy calculating.

My dream for the future

My vision for the field is that in 30 years, we will look back on successful projects without thinking, “We should have done this differently.” I hope to contribute to this.

Dike reinforcement City of Tiel

A puzzle of piles, anchors, and forces! This is how you can describe the sheet pile wall construction of section 3B (DT3B) in the City of Tiel. To better protect the city of Tiel against high water, the dike between the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal and the Inundation Canal is being structurally reinforced. On behalf of FPH Ploegmakers, ABT developed the engineering of this project into an implementation design.

Dyke reinforcement Sterke Lekdijk – Salmsteke sub-section

The northern Lekdijk between Amerongen and Schoonhoven will be reinforced on behalf of Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden*. Together with contractor Mourik Infra, ABT is involved in the Salmsteke and Salmsteke-Schoonhoven subprojects. For the Salmsteke sub-project, ABT will focus on the further development of the Prolock Filter Screen as an innovative vertical piping solution and on the design of the structural dyke reinforcement.
