Expertises

The design by the Austrian architectural firm Delugan Meissl Associated Architects is spectacular with large overhangs. The shape was established early in the design process and was practically untouchable. For example, the view from the central living area was to be obstructed as little as possible by structural elements. In the end, only 5 inclined columns were placed.

Hidden construction

The rest of the structure is ‘hidden’ in closed facade surfaces. This was not an easy solution, as these surfaces only touched the ground in a few places. A hybrid construction was used for this building. As a result, the building meets the desire to be a lightweight structure with a column-free design. Additionally, the building meets strict acoustic requirements.

Limited steel usage

The steel consumption of 110 kg/m² of floor area is relatively low for such a complex building with many cubic meters. Most of the steel is found in the trusses. The largest trusses are more than 70 meters long and 10 meters high.
