"My goal is to contribute to integrated, safe, and well-functioning buildings, drawing on my broad experience from design to execution."

Introduction

From a young age, I wondered about buildings: how is this put together? During my MBO (vocational) education in Construction Engineering, I soon realized that mechanics fascinated me. At the University of Applied Sciences and the Technical University, I further deepened my knowledge of structural behavior and material usage. I am motivated by designing efficient structures to save material and CO2. In my private life, too, I try to live as sustainably as possible. After my studies, I started working at an engineering firm in 2011 and worked temporarily for a steel construction company.

What I do at ABT

I joined ABT in 2015 as an all-round structural engineer. I work on diverse projects—large and small—in concrete, steel, wood, glass, and aluminium. I also gained experience with German projects. I continuously seek ways to design better and smarter. I am now a Structural Project Manager and often work closely with the execution phase. I love seeing designs become reality and sparring with contractors regarding feasibility. Additionally, I perform design checks and second opinions, and focus on sustainable concrete.

My dream for the future

In the future, I aim to guide the structural design at an early stage, together with clients and other parties. My goal is to contribute to integrated, safe, and well-functioning buildings, drawing on my broad experience from design through to execution.

Bajeskwartier

Bajeskwartier

An inspiring neighborhood with homes, a school, offices, and restaurants on the site of the former ‘Bijlmerbajes’ prison. The prison consisted of six high towers connected by a 280-meter-long corridor. In 2016, the prison closed its doors, and the plan for urban redevelopment was made. Since 2018, ABT has been working with BAM Advies & Engineering as structural and geotechnical advisors on eight of the sixteen buildings.

Forum Groningen

Forum Groningen

Forum Groningen is an iconic cultural complex consisting of eleven floors. Below the building is a five basement parking garage consisting of approximately four hundred parking spaces and 1,500 bicycle parking spaces. ABT played an important role in realizing the principles of the architectural concept.

NewCold cold storage facility

NewCold cold storage facility

A cold storage facility designed as an integrated machine: that is the innovative, newly to be built logistics location of NewCold in Dinteloord. It fits into a strategy of extreme efficiency and sustainability. The first pile-driving took place in 2024, and the building will be completed in 2025. ABT is working with five sister companies of Oosterhoff on the integral design of this challenging project.

Renovation Museum Arnhem

Renovation Museum Arnhem

Museum Arnhem temporarily closed its doors in 2017 for a large-scale renovation. The museum was partially demolished, partially renovated and new construction took place. The new building involved one above-ground level and two underground levels (three in total). ABT provided the implementation design for the museum's structure and foundation.
Reuse of existing buildings, Binnenhof

Renovation of the Binnenhof

Renovation of the Binnenhof

The large-scale renovation of the Binnenhof, home of the Dutch parliament is underway. The heart of our democracy is being adapted to the demands of the new era. Commissioned by the Central Government Real Estate Agency, ABT is providing the structural, geotechnical and engineering design for the building parts of the Council of State, and the structural and geotechnical design for the building parts of the Senate.
