"Preserving listed buildings and landmark buildings in a future-proof manner is one of the most important steps toward a sustainable living environment."

Introduction

I am pleased to be able to contribute to the leading projects that ABT works on The integral way of working within ABT really appeals to me; it is good to see how different disciplines can complement and reinforce each other. My background as an architect has given me an integral way of looking at commissions. Technology has to support the building and the user in a sustainable way.

What I do at ABT

To me sustainability is not a separate discipline but an integral part of the design process. It goes beyond energy efficiency and involves material use, green products and biodiversity, climate adaptation and social sustainability.

After working as a designer and project manager for an architects’ firm for many years, I was given the opportunity to research sustainability in architecture in 2011. After the research, I wrote the book “Architecture as a Climate Machine. At Nieman Consulting Engineers, I could combine my organizational skills and my passion for sustainability and worked on many great buildings.

My dream for the future

Since March 2019, I have been working at ABT as a building physics and sustainability consultant on challenging projects. They include new construction projects and increasingly existing buildings. The history of a building adds value to the place and the city. Preserving listed buildings and landmark buildings in a future-proof manner is one of the most important steps toward a sustainable living environment.
