Introduction

I am Sakshi Singh. I am passionate about innovation and research on sustainable construction and materials. I did my masters at TU Delft in construction materials, where I really got interested in how we can make construction more sustainable through better material choices.

I started working in ABT as a concrete specialist in 2025, and since then I’ve been enjoying working on projects as concrete technologist and sustainability advisor. I’m especially interested in exploring new, more sustainable materials and applying in real projects.

What I do at ABT

My job title is concrete specialist, but I also work on sustainability. I work on reducing carbon emissions in construction, especially through smarter use of materials and more sustainable concrete solutions. With my background as a concrete technologist specialized in sustainability, I work on a wide range of topics—from existing structures to new construction. I support projects with mix design, damage inspection, and technical advice. In all cases, I aim to make solutions as sustainable as possible. This can involve using supplementary cementitious materials, incorporating recycled aggregates, optimizing construction methods, and performing Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to understand and reduce environmental impact.

At ABT from early on, I was involved in real project work, which helped me quickly gain practical experience and confidence. Over time, I’ve taken on more responsibility in advising. This has allowed me to contribute more independently and to approach projects with a balanced view on both technical and sustainable aspects. Clients can reach out to me with any questions related to concrete and sustainability. This includes topics like reducing carbon emissions, optimizing concrete mixes, assessing existing structures, or exploring more sustainable material options.

My dream for the future

In the future, I want to focus on contributing to net-zero carbon infrastructure. My goal is to help drive the transition toward more sustainable construction by developing and applying low carbon impact materials and solutions that can be widely used in practice.

Renovation of the Binnenhof

The large-scale renovation of the Binnenhof, home of the Dutch parliament is underway. The heart of our democracy is being adapted to the demands of the new era. Commissioned by the Central Government Real Estate Agency, ABT is providing the structural, geotechnical and engineering design for the building parts of the Council of State, and the structural and geotechnical design for the building parts of the Senate.
