Introduction
My name is Berend Saalmink. I am a versatile structural engineer for both architectural and civil constructions. I prefer working on small to medium-sized projects, in a relatively small team, where there is direct contact between the design parties and the client. This way, as a structural engineer, you can best convey your advice and meet the client’s wishes. I have been working at ABT since 1988, but before that, I worked for a few years at Articon on railway-related structures. My education is in civil engineering with a specialization in structural engineering at the HTS in Arnhem.
What I do at ABT
At ABT, I started at the drawing board but quickly advanced to structural engineer and project manager. I enjoy combining these two roles because it allows you to have contact with both the client and construction partners, while also staying connected to the core of the profession. As a structural engineer, I have mainly worked with concrete and steel structures, but also with glass, wood, and aluminum.
