Introduction
My name is Michel de Vré and I have over 20 years of relevant work experience as a civil technician. From my hydraulic and civil engineering background, I have delved further into both the constructive and the often inseparable geotechnical side at the consultancy and engineering firm Tetra Tech and at ABT. As a civil technician, I have knowledge of civil engineering structures, maintenance, replacement & renovation and life-extending maintenance. Because of my geotechnical knowledge, I am involved in issues relating to settlement, stability, sheet pile wall and foundation constructions.
In addition to serving in construction teams as a project or technical manager and participant within the Chain Knowledge about Bridges and Quay Walls platform, I act as an expert in legal procedures. I taught civil engineering for 2 days as a “hybrid teacher” at the Koning Willem I college MBO students level 4.
What I do at ABT
My position is Senior Specialist Civil Infrastructure, where I combine professional knowledge and activities with my role as Project Manager and Market Leader Civil Infrastructure. I look for opportunities for collaboration and entering into long-term partnerships and developments in the market. Based on my constructive and geotechnical knowledge, I am involved in inspecting and assessing foundations, inner-city quay walls, monumental arch bridges and civil engineering structures. This i.r.t. | NEN8700 | NEN8701 | NEN-EN1990 and co-author of the CROW-CUR 7:2023 Drones Handbook. Customers can contact me for challenging and complex issues relating to Replacement & Renovation (V&R assignment) and Lifespan Extended Maintenance (LVO) surrounding civil engineering structures.
My dream for the future
As far as I am concerned, we strive to preserve civil works of art and only replace them once all options and possibilities for preservation have been considered. There is often more possible than initially seems!
