HR Group Leek

In Leek, a company building is rising for HR Groep, manufacturer of traffic signs and other infrastructure-related products. The project requires an integrated technical approach that combines energy, comfort, acoustics, and safety. ABT is responsible for the mechanical and electrical installations, building physics, acoustics, and fire safety consultancy, supplemented with nitrogen impact research and special attention to grid congestion.

Huis van Delft

Huis van Delft

At the edge of Delft’s historic city center, right next to the Railway Zone, the Huis van Delft has been developed. This iconic building serves as a new gateway to the city and offers space for 53 unique residences, an Innovation Gallery, an auditorium, a top-level restaurant, and the tourist information center.

Transformation Strawinskyhuis

Next to Amsterdam Zuid railway station stands the striking Strawinsky House. From 2021 to 2023, the Strawinsky House underwent a major renovation commissioned by Flow Real Estate and Egeria Real Estate Development. The transformation focused on making optimal use of the existing structure, combined with a contemporary appearance and high sustainability ambitions. The design was created by ZZDP Architects. ABT acted as structural engineer.

Rehabilitation of the HSL South viaducts

Along the HSL South line, between Hoofddorp and Leiderdorp, structural defects have been identified in nine railway viaducts. As a result, trains are unable to reach the intended top speed of 300 kilometres per hour. For the rehabilitation works, ProRail has selected three engineering firms with accreditation for Rail‑Bearing Civil Engineering Structures: Arcadis, Arup and Movares. ABT will join the project as Movares’ partner.

High-voltage project Rilland–Moerdijk

TenneT, the operator of the national high‑voltage grid, is constructing a critical 380 kV transmission connection between Rilland and Tilburg as part of the Borssele–Tilburg corridor. Strukton Wegen & Beton won the Rilland–Moerdijk contract section. This section comprises 127 tower locations, 95 of which are new. abtWassenaar and ABT are providing the foundation designs for the new transmission towers.

The Dordthuis

The Dordthuis

Dordrecht is gaining a remarkable new meeting place: the Dordthuis. Here, the city library, the municipality, the social services and the tourist information centre (VVV) will come together under one roof. The project, designed by the Danish architect Schmidt Hammer Lassen (SHL), marks the first step in transforming the Spuiboulevard into a vibrant, green urban district. ABT has been involved from the very beginning as SHL’s local partner.

Redevelopment of Schouwburg Ogterop

The redevelopment of Schouwburg Ogterop in Meppel marks a milestone in circular construction. Here, sustainability is seamlessly integrated with structural innovation. Through close collaboration between architects and structural engineers, a high‑quality circular theatre is being created, in which 40% of the materials are reused, 40% are biobased, and 80% of the components are designed for disassembly.

Renewal of the Climate Greenhouse at the Hortus Botanicus

The Three Climates Greenhouse at the Hortus in Amsterdam is being renewed and made more sustainable! It will become the first fully sustainable, climate-neutral greenhouse, telling the story of biodiversity and its relationship with the climate. ABT is involved as a structural advisor, just as it was during the original realization in 1993. A special project for us indeed!

The showpiece: that’s how we can confidently describe the new entrance of Rijnstate Hospital. Additionally, it serves as a beautiful introduction to timber constructions for the general public. Despite its modest size, the project showcases all aspects of successful timber construction: beauty, sustainability, and craftsmanship come together here. ABT provided the structural advice.

Hof in de Egelantier

Hof in de Egelantier

The Rijksmonument Hof in de Egelantier in Haarlem is getting a new lease on life as a boutique hotel and cultural venue. ABT is providing advice on building physics, acoustics, fire safety, and sustainability. The project is a challenging mix of appreciating historical features, designing careful interventions, and the ambition to achieve an A+ sustainability rating.

Oostpoort Kavel 1F

Oostpoort Kavel 1F

In Haarlem, the first social residential tower with a hybrid construction of wood and concrete will soon be built. This 33-meter-high tower, provisionally named Oostpoort Kavel 1F, will contain 100 apartments and is being realized on behalf of the housing corporation Ymere. ABT is providing the building physics, acoustic, fire safety, and sustainability advice for this project.

Maintenance Sophia Children’s Hospital

In 2023, Erasmus MC definitively decided to move the Sophia Children’s Hospital (Sophia Kinderziekenhuis, SKZ) to a new healthcare building on 's-Gravendijkwal in Rotterdam. This new building is expected to be completed in 2031 to accommodate all the current functions of the Sophia Children’s Hospital.
