"It is great to deliver a contribution to complex structures and experience the power of knowledge sharing. Every time it fascinates me to work with a project team designing sustainable, future-proof buildings and then see them become reality."

Introduction

At ABT we often talk about pushing the boundaries. This is exactly what drives me. In 2010, I graduated cum laude from TU Eindhoven. Since then, I have been working at our comfortable office in Velp.

I like to be challenged by complex structures and the power of knowledge sharing. I find it fascinating to work with a project team designing sustainable, future-proof buildings and see them become reality.

What I do at ABT

At ABT, I work as project leader structures and Registred Structural Engineer. I have worked on museums such as De Bastei, residential towers at Bajeskwartier and I was lead structural engineer on integral projects such as Jonas’ Amsterdam. I am also involved in healthcare projects, including the development of Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland.

I enjoy giving guest lectures at colleges and universities. In addition, I have a passion for complex glass structures, like the ultra-slim hybrid staircase in our office in Velp, the glass balconies at the Eusebius church in Arnhem and the 5.5-metre-high glass Arkel Erker in Nijmegen.

You can always contact me to make the impossible come true, from the first sketch to completion.

My dream for the future

Developments in the field of digitalization and knowledge sharing are moving fast. Within ABT, I work on BRiCks to facilitate our calculations and the Galleo platform for project data.

My dream for the future is that we create added value by combining our daily project experience with intelligent tools to reach integral and sustainable goals: more knowledge, less CO2.

Depot Boijmans van Beuningen

Depot Boijmans van Beuningen

In November 2021, His Majesty the King opened the Valhalla of Art and Collection Management: Boijmans van Beuningen Depot. All 151,000 objects accessible to the public in one location and under one roof. A world first! Our façade consultants assisted MVRDV to find the best construction method for the spectacular façade. In addition, we supported the structural engineering of the entire building.

The project is a development by Amvest, designed by Orange Architects in collaboration with ABT and Felixx Landscape Architects and Planners. It was realized by Ballast Nedam West. ABT took care of the integral technical design.

Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland

Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland has started the construction of a new, sustainable, and energy-efficient hospital building next to the current Franciscus Gasthuis. The new building, which will open in 2026, facilitates healthcare innovation and is more compact, flexible, and sustainable. ABT is involved in many areas as an advisor: in geotechnics, structures, project management, building physics and acoustics, and coordination of monitoring.

Bajeskwartier

Bajeskwartier

An inspiring neighborhood with homes, a school, offices, and restaurants on the site of the former ‘Bijlmerbajes’ prison. The prison consisted of six high towers connected by a 280-meter-long corridor. In 2016, the prison closed its doors, and the plan for urban redevelopment was made. Since 2018, ABT has been working with BAM Advies & Engineering as structural and geotechnical advisors on eight of the sixteen buildings.

Center for nature and cultural history De Bastei

At the Nijmegen Waalkade, five partners, together with the municipality of Nijmegen, realized the Center for Nature and Cultural History De Bastei. The project was part of the revitalization of the Waalkade. The eye-catcher of the project is a large cantilevered fully glass bay window.
