Introduction

I am Diana de Krom and I am a circular constructions project manager. The Netherlands wants to be circular by 2050 and I want to contribute my knowledge of circular constructions. This includes renovation of existing construction, new structures made of recycled or bio-based materials, structures with high removability or structures built from modules. I have worked at ABT since 2001 as a construction project manager. I started studying structural engineering at a technical college. Then I studied civil engineering at Delft University of Technology My dual education provided a broad knowledge base. I can think practically as well as theoretically. I am someone who likes to think creatively. I am also a doer. This is a good combination to realize innovations.

What I do at ABT

My thesis was about steel structures. At my previous employer, I specialized in glass structures and light construction. At ABT, my involvement with constructions was quite broad and general. From artworks to the Mauritshuis underground extensions and renovations to the development of the HoutKern module. In recent years I have become increasingly aware of the fact that we need to be careful with energy and raw materials. I have started to specialize in circular constructions. You can always call me for questions about circular construction, as well as innovative issues.

My dream for the future

My dream for the future is a circular world. Preferably much, much earlier than 2050. As engineers, we have an important role in this. It is important to bring in solid knowledge while still daring to step out of our comfort zone. In addition, it is essential that we work together throughout the chain and communicate our technical story to others as clearly as possible.
