Introduction

Since 2019, I have been working at ABT with great pleasure. A wide variety of projects have come my way, involving building on, with, and in the ground. In addition to my geotechnical background, I have always been interested in the structural interfaces with geotechnics. Thus, I am also a concrete technologist and expert in underwater concrete.

Besides the office job, I have fortunately been able to “play outside” a lot on the construction site or in the lab in recent years. I apply this practical experience directly to my work, but certainly also during sand sculpture building with colleagues.

In my free time, I enjoy canoeing and planning vacations and weekend getaways. I specialize in unique vacation destinations that can be reached without flying.

What I do at ABT

The common thread in my work is underground construction and foundation work. From large construction pits to small extensions under existing buildings.

In the field of integrated underwater concrete floors, we are at the forefront at ABT, and I participate in a CROW committee researching permanent applications of steel fiber underwater concrete floors. Besides underwater concrete, we apply state-of-the-art techniques in our projects, such as jet grouting and injection, to make underground construction possible in the most complex projects.

As the icing on the cake, I am currently involved in the renovation of the Binnenhof, where we encounter new challenges every time. What will be our next challenge in underground construction?

My dream for the future

I want to one day design a basement under my own house for a large cinema.
