Vincent Olthuis

I am Vincent Olthuis, and after completing my studies, I started at ABT in 2017 as an architectural engineer. I was drawn to ABT by its inspiring projects, digitalisation of design processes (computational design), and the strong culture of internal and external knowledge sharing. Over the years, I have grown from a junior engineer into a role in which I take responsibility both technically and in terms of process. Digitalisation and knowledge sharing have become increasingly important in this development.

What I do at ABT

My role and the projects at ABT are incredibly diverse. I work on architectural design development, BIM coordination, parametric design, quality assurance and design management. I constantly look for efficiency and optimisation in the broadest sense of the word. I achieve this by applying digital tools and maintaining short communication lines within projects. The projects I have been involved in are equally varied — from adaptive reuse (TP4 warehouse in Rotterdam) to new construction (Dordthuis in Dordrecht), and from utility buildings to residential projects. I am broadly interested, practical by nature, and strive to achieve the best integrated result as part of a team. In addition to project work, I enjoy sharing my BIM expertise with (new) colleagues and interns.

My dream for the future

Digitalisation in the construction industry increasingly provides insights into design choices related to sustainability, energy performance, buildability and material efficiency. With these insights, I aim to steer more consistently toward designs that reduce our environmental impact and make a positive contribution to the built environment.
